Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I book an appointment?

A: All of our artists manage their own schedules. Please refer to our “How to Book” webpage for more info about how to request an appointment with each individual artist.

Q: Where are you located?

A: Our address is 1635 E Pender St in Vancouver BC, near Hastings St and Commercial Drive.

Q: Do you take walk ins?

A: We are a by-appointment-only studio, though we occasionally host walk-in flash events - keep an eye on our “Events” highlight for more info!

Q: What do you charge?

A: Our artists each charge various hourly rates. Please contact your artist directly for more info about their pricing.

Q: Can I get tattooed if I am under 18 and have parent’s permission?

A: No, we do not tattoo anyone under the age of 18, regardless of parental consent. We require valid government ID in order to be tattooed at our studio.

Q: Do I need to pay a deposit in order to book an appointment?

A: Yes, all of our artists require a deposit in order to confirm the appointment. Deposits are non refundable and will be subtracted from the final cost of the tattoo. Each artist requires various amounts for deposits, depending on the individual project.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?

A: We require 72 hours notice to change or cancel your appointment without penalty. Your deposit will be forfeit without proper notice and another deposit must be paid to schedule a new appointment. Appointments can be rescheduled twice. A third reschedule will be subject to an extra fee, or declined based on the individual artist's discretion.

Q: Do you have parking?

A: Yes, we have 2 visitor parking spots in the back alley between Pender St and Hastings St, approximately half way down the block, in front of the black and white mural.

Q: Is your studio accessible?

A: Yes! We have a ground level access location, our lobby and tattoo stations are equipped with wide seating options, our doorway openings are 35" wide to our wheelchair accessible washroom equipped with hand rails and lots of space to move around. Most of our tattoo beds are electric and can raise and lower significantly, and have a weight limit ranging from 450- 600 lbs. Please note that 2 of our 4 private tattoo stations have narrow doorways, so please let us know if you require any specific accommodations.

Q: What kind of privacy will I have at your studio?

A: Woodland Artist Collective has 3 semi private rooms (which can be blocked with opaque curtains for full privacy) and 1 fully private room with a closing door.

We provide nipple covers for clients who are getting a tattoo that would require them to be topless.

Q: What amenities do you offer at the studio for clients?

A: In our lobby we have tea, coffee, water and juice, as well as a variety of snacks available for you to enjoy during your appointment! Most of our tattoo beds are equipped with heating pads, and we have blankets available for use as well. If your appointment is longer than 3 hours, we recommend bringing a meal along with you to keep your energy up - we have a fridge and microwave you are welcome to use. We also provide free WIFI, and our washroom is stocked with pads and tampons for anyone who may need them.

Q: Can I bring someone along with me to my appointment?

A: We prefer that you come alone to your appointment. Our studio is small and each of our stations are located in individual rooms which can only accommodate the artist and client receiving the tattoo. If you require someone to accompany you, they are welcome to sit in our lobby while they wait.

Q: How do I prepare for my appointment?

A: Please arrive well rested, hydrated, and eat a big meal before your appointment.  We recommend not consuming alcohol the night before. Avoid taking medications like Aspirin or Advil on the day of your appointment. If you are taking prescription medication please talk to your health care provider to find out if you should be getting tattooed.
Feel free to bring along any items to keep yourself comfortable and entertained such as a blanket or music, movies, or a book.

Wear something comfortable and appropriate for the area you are being tattooed, and something that you don’t mind potentially getting ink on.

Q: What forms of payment do you accept?

A: Each artist takes payment individually. Cash or email transfer is preferred, though most of our artists can take credit. A processing fee may apply to card transactions.

Q: How do I care for my new tattoo?

A: Your artist will give you detailed instructions for aftercare during your appointment. It is important to note prior to getting a tattoo that you will need to keep the area out of sunlight and water for 2-3 weeks.

Q: Do you offer touchups?

A: Our artists offer complimentary touchups within 6 months of the tattoos completion. Please wait 6-8 weeks for your tattoo to be fully healed before booking a touchup. Contact your artist directly to schedule an appointment.
